Ready for the Future

What an incredible year of rebuilding after the pandemic! Participation in our services and need in our community was up 12% over the previous year with twice as many visits to our services and locations. We are very proud to be open and available to our community as people return in-person. This year’s Impact Report is full of life-changing stories of these visitors and the accomplishments they are making with our support. We hope you enjoy reading about Nicole, Jayden, Clive, Barb, Osbert and many more.

As our 2022/2023 year concluded, we welcomed Kensington-Bellwoods Community Legal Services into our group! We know that access to justice, fairness and equity is essential to our goals of reduced poverty and better lives. Thank you to the Board, staff, and volunteers of Kensington-Bellwoods for sharing our vision.

This year, we are also excited to launch our ambitious new Strategic Plan & Anti-Poverty Framework. The Neighbourhood Group is ready for the future – a future with reduced poverty, more affordable housing and decent jobs. Read all about this future here.

Volunteer Spotlight

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers!

Last year, over 735 of our dedicated volunteers delivered more than 19,000 hours of essential support to our community! Whether it’s helping at our Corner Drop-in and Food Bank, preparing meals at Community Dinner, giving time as a Board member, delivering services virtually like community mediation, community outreach, tutoring, mentoring, income tax clinics, yoga and seniors social programs and stepping up to do letter writing and phone calls to isolated seniors, our volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of vulnerable people.
