Rapid Emergency Action and Community Training (REACT)
For people living in shelters, the need for support is great. That support comes from the front-line staff who use their experience and expertise to help residents with harm reduction, housing, employment and much more. And through REACT, our peer workers are there to support those staff and their important work by providing training to increase awareness of lived experience, improve empathy, enhance communication and understand how to de-escalate conflict. Together, we will reduce stigma, improve crisis response and build trust with residents, leading to better experiences and outcomes for all.
There are five separate modules in the training: 1) Understanding Lived Experience, 2) Building Empathy, 3) Active Listening, 4) Curiosity over Judgment, and 5) De-escalation.
